Deir Ezzor Environment Directorate organizes a cleanup of Al-Nahr Street to enhance community awareness.

The Environment Directorate in Deir Ezzor Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor and a number of volunteers, organized an environmental activity aimed at cleaning Al-Nahr Street, a branch of the Euphrates River, with the goal of enhancing environmental culture and spreading awareness among members of the local community and contributing to preserving a clean and sustainable environment.

The head of the Environmental Awareness Department at the Environment Directorate, Engineer Marwa Al-Hasan, stated in an interview with the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Monday that the campaign is part of a series of activities and events held in celebration of the Arab and National Environment Days, noting that it is not just a passing event, but an opportunity to review daily behavior towards the environment, and emphasizing that protecting the environment is not a temporary campaign, but a culture and a way of life.

For his part, Ali Al-Haso, Director of the Follow-up Office at the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Deir Ezzor, explained that the Directorate directly supervises the work of civil and community associations participating in the Al-Nahr Street cleanup campaign, with the aim of highlighting the civilized and aesthetic appearance of the city, clarifying that the campaign is part of a series of continuous environmental events that started from Al-Nahr Street, and will include the central park and the most vibrant sites in the city in the coming stages.

The campaign comes within the activities of the Arab Environment Day on October 14 and the National Environment Day on November 1, which see various Syrian governorates holding events to commemorate them, with the aim of consolidating environmental awareness and social responsibility, improving the state of green spaces, and enhancing cooperation between official authorities and the local community.
