Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that Turkey is no longer content with maintaining its stability in a period witnessing wars and conflicts in its neighborhood, but has assumed the responsibility of contributing to resolving disputes. Anadolu Agency reported that Erdogan said in a video message published today, Thursday, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Republic's establishment, that the Republic is the strongest symbol of the independence will of the Turkish people, whose history is full of victories.
For his part, Erdogan clarified that the War of Independence fought by the Turks under the leadership of founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk showed the world what a united people can achieve even in the most difficult circumstances. The Turkish President recalled the achievements Turkey has made over the past 24 years since the Justice and Development Party came to power, in a broad scope extending from defense industries and energy to transport and diplomacy.
He pointed out that Turkey today is stronger than it was yesterday, and will be tomorrow stronger, higher in status, and more effective in all fields. He added that our country, which develops its technologies independently, increases its capabilities and capacities in the field of defense, and strengthens its energy supply security, is moving with confident steps toward a stronger future.
Erdogan continued: "We in Turkey, in a difficult stage witnessing wars, conflicts, and crises in our nearby neighborhood and different regions of the world, do not only maintain our stability, but we also bear the responsibility of resolving disputes." He affirmed that Turkey will continue with determination to make efforts for peace and justice, starting from the slogan: peace in the world, peace in the region, peace at home.
Turkey celebrates Republic Day on October 29 every year, which is the date the Republic was declared by its founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in 1923.
