Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed on Monday the positive developments in Syria, while warning against Israeli attempts to incite chaos there. Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying during a speech at the Presidential Complex in the capital Ankara: "Good news is coming to us from Syria, but Israel is doing its utmost to incite chaos there as well."
Escalating regional crisis
Erdogan pointed out that the region is experiencing a storm of crises that intensify day by day, noting that the Russian-Ukrainian war will complete its fifth year in a few months. He continued, saying that Israel's war on Palestine continues relentlessly despite signed agreements, and before tensions in Iran fully subside, a new conflict was ignited in Yemen.
Rising tensions
Erdogan added that Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia caused a significant escalation in tensions in the region. He affirmed that Turkey managed to stay away from the ongoing conflicts, did not fall into the trap of provocations, and successfully navigated difficult stages.
Support for Syrian sovereignty
For his part, the Turkish president had renewed on September 25 his support for Syria's sovereignty and unity, emphasizing that strengthening Syrian state institutions and enhancing their capacity to combat terrorism serves the interest of the entire region. He affirmed that Israeli attacks clearly harm Syria's sovereignty and make achieving stability in the region more difficult.
