Evacuation operations for residents trapped in the Ukrainian city of Oleshky, located on the frontline between Russia and Ukraine, have begun under a ceasefire agreement reached between the two sides with US mediation. The evacuation and distribution of humanitarian aid in the city took place in the presence of a delegation comprising representatives from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia stated in a statement via his Telegram channel that evacuation operations had started, while Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said that 25 buses with a total capacity of 750 seats had been prepared to evacuate the town's residents, along with ambulances to transport people with mobility disabilities.
For her part, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova confirmed that the ceasefire in the humanitarian mission area in Oleshky continues, adding that no incidents had been reported and that both the Russian and Ukrainian sides are fully fulfilling their commitments. The ceasefire began last Tuesday in Oleshky to allow humanitarian aid to enter the city occupied by Moscow.
US President Donald Trump's wife, Melania, noted that this ceasefire is intended to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, while Russia confirmed its readiness to conclude similar humanitarian ceasefires, emphasizing that it appreciates the efforts of American negotiators.
