Event in Damascus Highlights Book on Knowledge Controls and Principles of Inference
Abu Rummanah Cultural Center presents a lecture on Al-Habanka Al-Midani's book during Book Week activities.

The Abu Rummanah Arab Cultural Center in Damascus held a cultural event titled "Insights on the Book of Knowledge Controls" today, Tuesday, presented by lecturer Abdul Rahman Qisas, as part of the Book Week activities organized by the Damascus Directorate of Culture.

Book Themes and Importance

The event covered an introduction to the content of the book "Controls of Knowledge, Principles of Inference, and Debate" by the late scholar Abdul Rahman Hassan Habanka Al-Midani, and its themes concerning the science of logic as one of the necessary "instrumental sciences" for acquiring knowledge, and the science of research and debate etiquette, noting their importance for students of religious sciences, Arabic language, law, and media.

Divisions of Knowledge and Inference

The researcher outlined the divisions of the book, which are distributed across several sections including mental perceptions, propositions and their rulings, methods of reaching knowledge and levels of perception, direct and indirect inference, levels of arguments and fallacies, leading to rational rules, controls of debate, its etiquette, and its applications.

Importance of Regulating Knowledge

Qisas clarified in a statement to SANA that knowledge varies in degrees and regulating it requires distinguishing between levels of perception, explaining that the correctness of premises alone is not sufficient to reach correct results; rather, it requires following a sound inferential path, because using correct premises incorrectly may lead to incorrect results.

About the Author

The author, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Hassan Habanka Al-Midani (1927–2004), was born in the Midan district of Damascus and received his education at the Islamic Guidance Institute founded by his father, Sheikh Hassan Habanka, before continuing his studies at Al-Azhar University and authoring more than forty specialized scientific books and volumes.

This lecture comes within the framework of the Cultural Center's activities aimed at providing readings of intellectual and cognitive works, introducing their contents, and opening the field for discussing their topics.
