Fahmy warns against settlement at Lebanon's expense, calls for supporting its stability
Fahmy warns against a regional settlement at Lebanon's expense and calls for supporting its stability, while Raji praises the Arab solidarity decision.

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy stressed the necessity of providing adequate support to ensure stability in Lebanon, expressing concern that any potential regional settlement might come at its expense.

In the same context, the National News Agency reported that Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Youssef Raji, discussed with Fahmy in Beirut on Monday the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, and ways to enhance cooperation between the Arab League and Beirut.

For his part, Raji commended the Arab League Council's decision issued in Cairo regarding solidarity with Lebanon, considering it a precedent, as it was the first time the Council named matters by their names and described the Lebanese crisis in all its dimensions, which was impossible in previous years.

He added that Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam emphasized earlier that day, during his meeting with Fahmy, the importance of continuing Arab support for his country, particularly the state's efforts aimed at achieving the complete Israeli withdrawal from its territories and extending its authority.

Lebanon and Israel signed a framework ceasefire agreement last June under US sponsorship, which primarily stipulates the disarmament of armed groups not affiliated with the Lebanese state, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they infiltrated in southern Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army starting from two experimental zones.

He pointed out that the occupation forces insist on continuing their violations and attacks on southern Lebanese territories, thereby reinforcing Lebanon's need for Arab and international support to ensure its stability.
