Quneitra-SANA
The family of Kanan Bakr from the village of Tartanja in the countryside of Quneitra expressed deep concern over the fate of their son, who has been detained by Israeli occupation forces since August 11, 2025. They noted that the arrest upended the family's stability and cast a heavy shadow of pain over them.
In this context, Kanan's mother, Huda Ali Bakr, told a SANA correspondent that dozens of soldiers raided the house at 2 a.m., amidst the firing of sound grenades that caused panic. They interrogated the children and searched for weapons without success, then arrested Kanan after beating him in front of them and confiscating their phones.
For his part, his brother Abdul Razzaq Bakr clarified that the family lacks any official information regarding his place of detention or health status, except for unconfirmed news stating he is safe. He pointed out that the continuous absence of information causes great anxiety for the parents.
He noted that Kanan was the main provider for the family, working in agriculture and sheep herding. His absence has caused a sharp deterioration in his mother's health, who suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure, and a heart attack. Additionally, his wife was diagnosed with cancer.
He added that residents face difficult conditions due to incursions and house raids, but they refuse to leave their land. Meanwhile, the family appeals to the international community to pressure the occupation to release the detainees.
Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaybani had previously confirmed that occupation forces carried out 147 arrest operations from the beginning of the year until last September, with 49 detainees still held. Residents have organized protest rallies in front of the UN office in Mazzeh, Damascus, demanding their release.
