Portuguese player Joao Felix led his team Al-Nassr to a 1-0 victory over their guest Neom on Tuesday, in the context of the tenth round of the Saudi Professional League, after his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty.
Felix scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute at the "Ald Park" stadium, raising Al-Nassr's tally to 22 points in third place, three points behind the leading Al-Qadsiah. Meanwhile, Neom's tally remained at 16 points in sixth place, after suffering their second consecutive loss and fourth this season.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, after both teams failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities, most notably the breakaway of Algerian Said Benrahma against Al-Nassr goalkeeper Pinto in the 20th minute. Al-Nassr was awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute, after Mohammed Al-Dawsari fouled Joao Felix inside the box, which the referee awarded after returning to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.
Ronaldo shot the ball next to the right post, wasting his fifth penalty for Al-Nassr in various competitions, after failing against Al-Taawoun in the King's Cup, and against Al-Ghaf, Al-Fateh, and Al-Fayha in the league. In the 48th minute, Ronaldo missed another chance in front of an empty goal, keeping his tally at 981 goals in his career.
Felix sealed the match with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area, capitalizing on a cross from Brazilian Angelo Gabriel. In another match, Al-Qadsiah secured their third consecutive win by defeating their host Al-Taawoun 1-0, with Dutch player Tijani Reinders scoring in the 90+6th minute, moving to the top of the standings with 25 points.
Al-Ittihad regained the winning rhythm by defeating their host Al-Ettifaq 4-1, thanks to two goals from Moroccan Youssef El-Arabi, and one goal each from Algerian Houssem Aouar and Nigerian George Elenigo.
