Manchester United player Bruno Fernandez criticized the tactics employed by team manager Michael Carrick following the 1-4 defeat to Italian side Como in the third round of the unified Champions League group.
Fernandez, 32, told TNT Sports that the team started the match poorly, pointing out the lack of sufficient pressure on the ball or good movements, which led to an early goal that put the players in a defeated mindset.
The player noted that giving the opponent time and space to control the play contributed to the negativity, emphasizing that tactical responsibility lies with the manager and his coaching staff, but he called for the courage to take risks by applying advanced pressure to disrupt the opponent.
For his part, Belgian player Youri Tielemans, 29, admitted that the performance was not good enough, pointing out that Como dominated most of the match, making it a disappointing night due to the lack of required effort.
United fell behind just two minutes into the start, extending their winless streak to seven matches, amid previous criticism from teammate Lisandro Martinez regarding the strength of the squad.
