Finance Minister Mohammad Yasser Barneeh held talks on Tuesday with Emad Fakhoury, Deputy President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the Middle East and North Africa region, and his accompanying delegation, to explore ways to enhance joint cooperation in priority areas to support economic recovery in Syria.

In the same context, the discussions covered opportunities to develop public-private partnerships, support financial sector reforms, review priority projects under preparation, and the possibility of leveraging the Corporation鈥檚 expertise in developing bankable projects and attracting investments.

For his part, the two sides discussed Syria鈥檚 regional connectivity initiative and the opportunities it offers to enhance regional economic integration, develop connectivity networks and infrastructure, and facilitate the movement of trade and investment, thereby contributing to supporting economic recovery and enhancing Syria鈥檚 role in the region.

He added that the talks addressed cooperation in establishing a fund to support startups, providing more financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, and discussing support for efforts to reform state financial institutions.

Minister Barneeh pointed out the importance of expanding cooperation with the IFC and leveraging its expertise in stimulating private sector investments, developing strategic projects, and supporting reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and achieving sustainable economic growth.
