The 'First Mosaic' gathering, held in the German state of Saarland, brought together representatives from 47 Syrian organizations, associations, and institutions from several European countries, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation and preserving Syrian cultural identity and heritage. The gathering, which took place on the 18th of this month, saw wide attendance including representatives from Germany, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria, as well as nearly 120 representatives of associations, civil society organizations, and independent figures.

Exchanging Expertise and Building Sustainable Partnerships

Participants discussed the state of work of associations and the challenges they face, ways to coordinate efforts, exchange expertise and resources, as well as reviewing ongoing projects and exploring opportunities to launch joint initiatives that link Syrian expertise in Europe with the needs of society in Syria. Discussions focused on teaching the Arabic language, empowering youth, supporting cultural and community initiatives, and preserving Syrian heritage, with the goal of building sustainable partnerships in the fields of culture, education, media, community and humanitarian work, and professional development.

Action Plan to Follow Up on Gathering Outcomes

Abdullah al-Ahmad, a member of the board of directors at the 'Mosaic' gathering, stated that the gathering aims to create a common space that brings together Syrian associations and civil society organizations in Europe, enhancing familiarity and the exchange of expertise. He noted that the participation of 47 associations and the attendance of around 120 people reflect a shared desire to enhance cooperation and unify efforts to serve the Syrian community. He added that one of the main outcomes of the gathering is the move towards forming a coordination and follow-up committee comprising representatives of the participating associations, to monitor proposals, identify common priorities, and prepare for partnerships and memorandums of understanding in the coming phase.

Al-Ahmad pointed out that the next phase will focus on following up on the gathering's outcomes, completing communication between participating entities, and setting common priorities and an action plan that includes clear projects and mechanisms for coordination and follow-up. The gathering emphasized the importance of moving from familiarity and exchanging ideas to implementing joint initiatives that utilize Syrian expertise and potential in Europe, under the slogan 'Partners in Construction.. Partners in Success,' within the framework of continuous efforts to strengthen ties of belonging to the homeland and channeling the skills of emigrated Syrians to support development and recovery projects inside the country.
