For the first time in its history. Amidspor advances to the Turkish Premier League
The club was founded in 1972 and is based in the city of Diyarbakır in southern Turkey

On Saturday,  May 2, 2026, the Kurdish football club Amidippor achieved a historic achievement by ascending to the Turkish Premier League for the first time.

The promotion came after the team drew with İğdir FK 3-3 away from home in the last round of the Turkish First Division League (TFF 1. Lig), which raised Amedspor's tally to 74 points, which guaranteed it second place and direct promotion to the League of Lights.

Founded in 1972, Amidaspor is one of Turkey's most controversial clubs, especially since its decision in 2014 to change its name from Diyarbakırı Bıüyüyürıdispor to Amidspor, in a move that reflected its adoption of a Kurdish character through the use of the Kurdish name of the city of Diyarbakır "Amed".

In April 2024, the team won  the  second division title, and climbed to the first division for the first time in its history, before continuing its upward march and reaching the Premier League today in one of the most prominent sports stories in Turkish football in recent years.
