R4 foreign ministers emphasize dialogue and diplomacy to contain regional conflicts in a joint statement after their Istanbul meeting.

The foreign ministers of the "R4" group, comprising Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, affirmed their resolve to continue contributing to diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing peace and stability in the region and beyond, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy have become an urgent necessity to contain the region's conflicts.

This was stated in a joint press statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, following the meeting of the "R4" foreign ministers, which was held in Istanbul with the participation of their counterparts from France, Germany, Italy, and Britain. The ministers discussed a number of issues of regional and international importance, foremost among them the war between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, the Palestinian-Israeli issue, and the need for a two-state solution through negotiations.

The meeting also addressed, according to the statement, "the vile attacks by Houthi militias on Saudi Arabia and Yemen," as well as security and freedom of navigation, along with the escalating tensions in the Bab al-Mandab and Hormuz straits and the Black Sea. The ministers stressed their resolve to continue contributing to diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing peace and stability in the region and beyond, and to address the repercussions of these issues on security, the economy, and trade.

The ministers agreed on the urgent need to address regional conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy and to de-escalate tensions. They also emphasized the necessity of reaching permanent solutions to all ongoing conflicts through negotiations, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. The ministers agreed to continue dialogue within this framework to prevent conflicts and enhance peace and stability in the region.

Istanbul hosted on Friday the meeting of the foreign ministers of the "R4" group, which includes Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, and the "E3" group, comprising Britain, Germany, and France, with the participation of Italy. The meeting discussed regional issues, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, the situation in the Hormuz Strait, developments related to Yemen, and efforts aimed at finding a solution to the Russian-Ukrainian war, alongside opportunities for future cooperation and coordination between the countries of the two groups.
