The fourth conference on kidney diseases kicked off today, Thursday, at the Hama City Council auditorium, under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, with the participation of a select group of local and international doctors and specialists. The conference aims to present the latest updates and scientific developments in this specialty through specialized lectures.
Dr. Najah Al-Bustani Al-Fatouhi, head of the kidney diseases department at Hama National Hospital, clarified that the conference covers the most important global and local developments in the field of kidney diseases. She emphasized that the event represents an important opportunity to exchange experiences among doctors, as well as medical students and residency students, thereby serving patients and benefiting the country.
For his part, Dr. Ziad Arabi, the conference chairman, noted that the conference is witnessing a strong attendance exceeding 220 participants from various Syrian governorates. He explained that the attendees include more than 23 centers or teaching hospitals, with participation from 9 universities, in addition to a large number of residency students, who constitute approximately a quarter of all residency students in Syria.
Dr. Arabi, who works in Riyadh, added that the organizers hope students will apply what they have learned from the latest developments in kidney diseases, transplantation, and dialysis when they become practicing physicians. The importance of holding the conference, which continues until September 26, lies in the need to keep pace with the rapid developments in this field.
He pointed out that the event seeks to enhance the exchange of experiences and knowledge among doctors, specialists, medical students, and residency students, which will positively reflect on the ground and benefit patients.
