A free medical campaign in Raqqa provides heart and artery treatments to reduce financial burdens on patients.

The Directorate of Health in Raqqa Governorate, in coordination with the Syrian Medical Syndicate, Al-Tib Al-Hadith Hospital, the Syrian-German Medical Association "Sigma", and Al-Rawad Foundation for Cooperation and Development, launched today, Monday, the activities of a free medical campaign to treat heart and coronary artery disease patients. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on the most needy patients by providing diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization services and stent and mesh installation completely free of charge.

Raqqa Health Director Abdullah Al-Hamoud clarified that the surgeries are currently being carried out in collaboration with the private sector at Al-Tib Al-Hadith Hospital, as a preliminary step towards the imminent opening of the cardiac catheterization department at Raqqa National Hospital. For his part, cardiologist Khamis Ahmad Al-Ajawi pointed out that the initiative reflects the slogan "The country rises with its sons" through the participation of a elite of competent doctors, noting that cases are screened according to strict medical criteria to ensure support reaches the most deserving categories.

Cardiac catheterization consultant Sharif Al-Sharif added that medical supplies and equipment were secured in cooperation with Al-Rawad Foundation to carry out surgical operations in conjunction with local medical staff. National Hospital Cardiology Department Head Thaer Al-Alis noted that approximately six catheterization and widening procedures are performed daily, with full coverage of emergency cases resulting from myocardial infarction.

Director of Health Facilities Mohammad Al-Asker stated that the campaign received more than 300 patients for evaluation of their conditions, and aims to perform between 20 and 30 procedures for artery widening and stent implantation free of charge over four days. He pointed out that priority is given to patients who were unable to complete treatment due to weak financial capabilities, while beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the initiative's role in alleviating the financial burdens associated with treatment.
