Google has added new features to the Google Photos app on Android and iPhone, allowing users to customize the app interface, reorder folders and sections, and pin frequently used items, aiming to facilitate photo organization and access.
In this context, the tech site 9to5Google reported the day before yesterday that the new update gives users broader control over the app interface by reordering tabs, pinning favorite folders to the top of the screen, and hiding sections they do not use frequently.
New Collections Tab
The update includes a new "Collections" tab, which contains multiple sections, including Albums, People, Pets, Places, and Documents, as well as Screenshots, Favorites, Videos, Archive, Trash, and Locked Folders.
Customization and Ordering Options
Users can modify the order of pinned items through the "Edit" option, while the "Reorder" option allows organizing the remaining sections according to their preferences, making it easier to access the desired content.
Update Availability and Reactions
The new design is available in version 7.97 of the Google Photos app on Android, and version 7.98 on iOS, and users can check its availability by opening the app and navigating to the "Collections" tab. The update has sparked mixed reactions among users; some felt the new design resembles the iPhone Photos app interface, while others welcomed the additional options that allow customizing and arranging sections according to their needs.
These updates come within the framework of technology companies' trend to develop their apps and provide more flexible customization options, thereby improving user experience and facilitating access to frequently used content and features.
The app's development continues to include more features that meet the diverse needs of users in managing photos and multimedia.
