Google Launches Platform to Connect Apps with AI Services
Google launches a new platform enabling developers to integrate apps with Gemini and Search for streamlined digital tasks.

Google announced the launch of a new platform aimed at empowering companies and developers to directly integrate their applications into its artificial intelligence services, "Gemini," and its search engine. This move aims to enable users to perform a variety of tasks directly through these services, without the need to switch between separate and complex applications.

The tech website "TechCrunch" reported on Wednesday that the new platform, named "Connected Apps Platform," is now available for preview to developers in the United States. This platform provides a set of specialized tools for registering, testing, and submitting applications for review, with the aim of making them available via "Gemini" or the search engine, or both.

In the same context, connected applications allow users to leverage external services to perform specific tasks through Google platforms, such as designing advertising materials using "Canva" and creating music playlists via "YouTube Music." This system relies on technical tools that enable linking applications to servers for the Model Context Protocol or "AppFunctions" interfaces dedicated to the Android system.

For its part, Google indicated that the connected applications system currently includes more than 50 applications across "Gemini" and the search engine, including services from companies such as "Adobe," "Experian," and "Peloton." More applications are scheduled to be made available via the search engine in the coming weeks, while the meditation service "Calm" is preparing to join the system.

The company added that it provides a central control unit named "Google Connected Console" to manage applications and monitor their performance, including usage traffic, response speed, and error rates. This step comes within the broader trend of technology companies developing artificial intelligence tools capable of performing tasks on behalf of users through unified interfaces.
