Google is testing the addition of seven new voice options to its AI-powered "Gmail Live" feature, aiming to provide users with broader choices for customizing voice conversations and interacting with emails.
For his part, the tech website "Android Authority" mentioned in a report published yesterday Tuesday that the new options were spotted in a recent version of the "Gmail" app bearing the number 2026.10.05.993506826, noting that the feature is still under testing and the company has not set an official date for its release to users.
It added that the new voices include "Pegasus," "Capella," "Dipper," "Orion," "Ursa," "Vega," and "Eclipse," joining the current default voice "Orbit." Some of these options are already available in the "Gemini Live" feature, which allows users to choose the voice used when interacting with the smart assistant.
The report pointed out that changing the voice may, according to tests, restart the current conversation and lose its history, which may limit the ease of switching between voice options during use. The website also noted early indications of the possibility of providing voice change options within "Live" experiments in the "Google Keep" and "Google Docs" apps, without official confirmation regarding this capability or its release date.
Google has not yet announced a general release date for the new voices, and their appearance in a beta version does not necessarily mean they will all be adopted in the final version.
