Haas announced the exclusion of French driver Esteban Ocon from the final four races of the Formula 1 season, following his ban from participating in the Mexican Grand Prix at the end of last week. The American team confirmed in a press statement via the 'X' platform that Ocon will not participate with them again in the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship.
Immediate Replacement
Ocon will be replaced by 21-year-old driver Camara in the Brazilian Grand Prix, scheduled to be held in Sao Paulo at the end of next week. The Frenchman's sporting record includes one victory in Hungary in 2021, and three podium finishes with Renault/Alpine, the last of which was in November 2024 when he finished second in Brazil.
Reactions
For his part, Japanese team principal Ayao Komatsu clarified that the decision serves the team's future interests, denying any physical altercation with Ocon. Japanese driver Rio Haryanto had been called up to participate in Mexico and scored a point, but he will not participate in Brazil due to his commitment to a six-hour race in Monza.
The Finale
Three races remain in the season after Brazil: the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Qatar in November, and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 6 next. Ocon is competing in his tenth Formula 1 season, and it was scheduled for him to reach the milestone of 200 races in his career in Brazil.
