Hadith al-Syrians Forum Visits Salma Town in Latakia
Over 500 people participated in the seventh session of the Hadith al-Syrians forum in Salma town to witness war damage and its aftermath.

Participants in the "Hadith al-Syrians" forum inspected the extent of destruction in Salma town in the countryside of Latakia today, Friday, and the challenges still facing residents, particularly the rehabilitation of infrastructure and addressing the effects of forced displacement and war remnants.

The forum included more than 500 people from several governorates, including influencers and content creators, who listened to the town's residents about their suffering and aspirations for recovery and reconstruction. The forum coordinator, Mohammad Hamado, explained in a statement to a SANA correspondent that the choice of Latakia to host the seventh session of the forum and organize a visit to Salma town came due to the town's symbolism in the history of the Syrian revolution, as it hosted revolutionaries from various areas, including Tartous, Baniyas, Jableh, Al-Haffah, and Jabal al-Akrad.

Consolidating National Peace

Hamado emphasized that the core message of the forum is consolidating national peace, which contributes to transitioning to a stage of construction and recovery. He pointed out that the forum's title in Latakia, "Latakia: A Story of Revolution and a Journey of Construction," reflects the importance of narrating and preserving the story of the revolution in memory, alongside the ongoing journey of construction to uplift Syria.

For his part, Firas Al-Hajji, a resident of Salma town, noted that these visits help identify the extent of destruction the town suffered due to the shelling by the tyrannical regime and the displacement of its people, calling for enhanced attention and support to improve services in the area. For his part, Zakaria Ghareer, a visitor from Aleppo, clarified that the visit allowed participants to witness the extent of destruction in the town, expressing optimism about overcoming the effects of past years and emphasizing that the next stage requires working to rebuild what the war destroyed.

On her part, content creator Rasha Nasser pointed out that the extent of destruction in the town reflects the challenges facing its residents, expressing hope for the recovery of the town and the region in general. Meanwhile, Majd Aqad, coming from Aleppo, emphasized that the unity of Syrians and the integration of their efforts form the basis for uplifting the country and restoring life to affected areas. Yazen Hana, a visitor from Damascus, also highlighted the importance of shedding light on the suffering of the town's residents and the dangers of war remnants that still pose a challenge to returning normal life to the area.

The forum's program in Latakia includes several activities, such as visiting archaeological sites and landmarks related to the Syrian revolution and places where demonstrations took place in Latakia city, the Arch of Triumph, Al-Salibeh neighborhood, and the Latin Church, in addition to a main session at the Cinema Club of Latakia University. It is worth noting that Aleppo city hosted the sixth meeting of the "Hadith al-Syrians" forum last September, where the forum implements a series of monthly meetings hosted by Syrian cities and governorates. Its concept is based on bringing together people who meet for the first time, allowing them to get to know each other, dialogue, and listen to each other's experiences.
