Hakik meets with Korean Agency on supporting digital transformation in Syria
Minister of Communications discusses leveraging Korea's advanced digital transformation experience to support Syria's program.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Hakik held talks with Yum Seok-ku, President of the Korean Information Society Agency, on ways to benefit from Korea's advanced digital transformation experience to support Syria's program in this field, on the sidelines of the Global Summit on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology held in the Korean capital Seoul.

The Ministry clarified in a post on its Telegram channel on Wednesday that the meeting addressed cooperation pathways in providing technical assistance, training, and building the capacities of Syrian cadres, and benefiting from the Agency's expertise in managing digital transformation efforts in South Korea, particularly in building and utilizing artificial intelligence assistants to facilitate citizens' access to government services and improve government work efficiency.

Minister Hakik pointed out that Syria seeks to build partnerships that enrich its national vision with practical experience and real-world experiences from which it can draw what benefits Syria, highlighting the importance of the Korean experience in building links with expatriate talents and the Ministry's program in this field, which helps develop pathways that enable Syrian talents around the world to contribute to digital transformation and build the technology industry in Syria.

The two sides agreed on the next steps to follow up on areas of cooperation and turn them into practical implementation programs, in coordination with partner entities, including the World Bank and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The Minister of Communications and Information Technology had also met the day before yesterday in Seoul with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Science, ICT, and Communications of the Republic of Korea, Bae Kyung-hoon, on cooperation opportunities in developing digital infrastructure and building scientific and technical capacities, on the sidelines of the Global Summit on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology.
