Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan Halabi announced a set of measures taken by the ministry to expedite the processing of university degree equivalency files, noting that new working groups have been formed to complete the received and accumulated files from the era of the former regime.
Minister Halabi explained during his meeting with employees at the degree equivalency directorate at the ministry today, Wednesday, that the staff assigned to this task has been quadrupled and distributed among 12 working groups, each comprising two employees. He pointed out that the ministry has formed additional verification teams and provided necessary supplies, including offices, printers, and computers, alongside providing incentives for workers.
According to Minister Halabi, the measures included simplifying the equivalency procedures and limiting the required documents to five requirements: the university degree, the transcript, the high school certificate or its equivalent, originally certified by the Ministry of Education, proof of residence, and proof of identity.
Minister Halabi pointed out the cancellation of the proof of residence requirement for theoretical degrees issued during the period from 2011 to 2025. He stressed the continuation of work during and outside official working hours to complete received files by the end of the year, noting the existence of direct daily monitoring of completed file numbers to ensure tracking of work progress and accelerating the pace of completion.
Deputy Minister Mohammed Al-Sweid and Director of the University Degree Equivalency Directorate at the ministry, Issa Abdul Al, attended the meeting. Minister Halabi had previously confirmed on August 10 that the ministry had taken a series of practical steps to simplify the procedures for certifying and equating non-Syrian degrees, aiming to save time and effort while ensuring verification accuracy and procedural integrity, within the framework of the ministry's vision to transition to a more efficient, faster, and transparent administrative system.
