Al-Khala Investment Company, investor in Hama Cement Plant No. 3, completed the first phase of implementing the investment contract in the plant today, Tuesday, paving the way for its trial operation at the beginning of next month and resuming cement production after several years of suspension.

The first phase included rehabilitating the packaging section and cement mills, and securing imported clinker, while work is ongoing to prepare and rehabilitate the entire production line in the plant under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Ammar Al-Sheikh, a member of the committee overseeing the implementation of the investment contract in the plant, told SANA that the plant previously operated with low production capacity not exceeding 2,100 tons of clinker, noting that the investment plan with Al-Khala Company, with which a contract was signed, will be implemented in four phases.

Al-Sheikh explained that the second phase involves preparing the entire production line to launch its trial operation at the beginning of next month with a production capacity of 3,300 tons per day, while the third phase aims to increase its production capacity to 5,000 tons, and the fourth phase entails installing a new production line with a capacity of 6,000 tons per day, bringing the total production of Hama Cement Plant No. 3 to 11,000 tons.

For his part, Abdul Basit Ahmad, director of Hama Cement Plant No. 3, confirmed in a similar statement that the cement mills have been rehabilitated with a production capacity of 3,500 tons per day and produce most types of cement, clarifying that maintenance and rehabilitation works for the raw material mill and the kiln are currently underway.

Alaa Al-Sahni, director of the media office at Al-Khala Company, pointed out that the company took over the plant in late last year in a state of low technical and production performance, and began the process of rehabilitating its sections to address the shortage of cement in the Syrian market and keep pace with the reconstruction phase.

Hama Cement Plant No. 3 is considered one of the important plants in Syria's cement manufacturing sector, given its production capacity, which can contribute to enhancing the local supply of this essential material, especially with the growing need for it in construction and reconstruction projects, giving the rehabilitation of the plant and increasing its production capacity significant economic and industrial importance.
