Hamas: Displacement of Palestinians in Hebron is a systematic aggression requiring international action

Hamas confirmed on Friday that the forced displacement and demolition of homes in the city of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, constitute a systematic aggression targeting the Palestinian presence, necessitating urgent international action to halt them. This came in a statement by the movement, amid the continuation of Israeli aggression on Hebron governorate for the eighth consecutive day, amidst raids, closures, and the displacement of Palestinians from their homes.

Escalation in collective punishment

The movement stated that the continuous Israeli aggression on Hebron and cities in the West Bank, accompanied by raids, forced displacement, demolition, and sabotage, "represents a serious escalation in the policy of collective punishment practiced by the occupation against our Palestinian people." It stressed that these measures constitute a "blatant violation of all international and humanitarian laws and norms."

Siege and home evacuations

It added that Hebron city is witnessing a "tight siege, closure of entrances and exits, daily home raids, and forcing hundreds of Palestinian families to forcibly evacuate their homes." It pointed out that house demolition, property clearance, and targeting residential neighborhoods "will not grant the occupation security or legitimacy, but will only increase our people's determination to cling to their national rights and defend their land and sanctuaries."

Local statements and international call

Local sources told Anadolu Agency on Friday that Israeli forces raided the Al-Jalda and Ein Deir Baha neighborhoods and deployed military reinforcements around two Palestinian homes that carried out a shooting operation on October 23. The Palestinian Prisoners Club had announced the arrest of 110 Palestinians in the governorate since the start of the aggression until last Wednesday, while the Heylon Municipality announced that the number of displaced reached 4,969 Palestinians from 780 families.
