Hamilton accuses Leclerc of squandering Ferrari’s points in Mexico
Hamilton blames Leclerc for collision that cost Ferrari victory in Mexico Grand Prix.

British driver Lewis Hamilton expressed regret over the first-lap scenario at the Mexican Grand Prix, noting that Ferrari could have celebrated a double podium finish had his teammate Charles Leclerc cooperated with him instead of colliding. The seven-time world champion started from pole position for the 105th time in his career but finished second behind Dutch driver Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who secured his sixth victory in Mexico.

In the same vein, Hamilton accused Leclerc of wasting points due to excessive aggression, calling for serious discussions away from the spotlight to resolve internal issues. Leclerc received a five-second time penalty for going off the track, which allowed Verstappen to overtake Hamilton for second place, while team radio communications deteriorated into what resembled a civil war.

For his part, Leclerc responded that he saw a gap on the first lap and headed toward it, believing that both drivers braked too late at turns four and five. He clarified that he attempted to communicate with the team about the situation during the race and acknowledged he might have to give the position back to his teammate, describing the situation as extremely confusing.
