The General Company for Electricity in Hasaka carried out maintenance and rehabilitation works for the electrical network in the cities and towns of the governorate, including repairing damaged lines, maintaining transformers, and restoring substations, with the aim of improving power supply and enhancing network stability.
The company’s general manager, Akram Suleiman, told SANA on Tuesday that the company is working according to an integrated plan to improve the power supply situation and rehabilitate network components. He noted the procurement of electrical equipment in recent periods, including transformers of various capacities, cables, and other technical supplies, to support maintenance and network rehabilitation works.
Suleiman stated that the company carried out rehabilitation and maintenance works for substations, including the installation and maintenance of 85 transformers distributed across the cities of Hasaka, Al-Shadadi, Markada, Al-Darbasiyah, and Tal Tamr, as well as restoring several lines to service.
He pointed out the replacement of collapsed and leaning poles, and the repair of damages inflicted on networks due to storms on the M4 International Highway, to ensure public safety and guarantee service continuity.
He added that the Gazali, Kishman, Masoud Khazrik, and Hamoud Al-Matar prefabricated transformers were put into service within Hasaka city, as part of efforts to support the network and improve its performance.
Suleiman explained that the company’s workshops installed more than 2,000 electronic meters for subscribers in various areas of the governorate, with the installation plan continuing to cover all cities, towns, and sub-districts. He noted that works are currently concentrated in the Al-Salihiya district in Hasaka city, Al-Qamishli city center, Al-Shadadi city, and the sub-districts of Tal Brak, Tal Tamr, Tal Hamis, and Al-Yaarubiya.
He emphasized that electronic meters will help regulate electricity consumption in homes and encourage subscribers to conserve energy and operate essential appliances, thereby reducing load on the network and limiting waste and electrical losses.
Residents of Hasaka governorate, particularly in the city center, called for accelerating maintenance works and restoring electricity to their homes. They noted that some neighborhoods have been deprived of electricity for over a year and nine months, exacerbating their suffering and living burdens.
Residents pointed out that continued power outages force them to rely on private generators, despite the high subscription costs, which exceed the capacity of many families, especially as generator owners raise prices citing rising fuel costs.
Technical workshops continue to carry out maintenance and repair works in several neighborhoods in Hasaka city, including Al-Amran, Al-Aziziya, Al-Kalasa, Al-Ghazl, Kishman, and Dawlab Al-Awais, in addition to areas in Al-Darbasiyah, Al-Shadadi, Markada, and Tal Tamr.
The General Company for Electricity in Hasaka received a new batch of electrical materials and equipment from the warehouses of the Syrian Electricity Company on October 18, aimed at supporting the rehabilitation of substations and networks and improving the power supply situation in the governorate.
