The General Company for Drinking Water and Sewerage in Hasaka Governorate announced on Friday that the water from the Alalouk station is suitable for drinking, following the completion of laboratory analyses and tests that confirmed its compliance with approved standard and health specifications. This official announcement came after a period of suspension in pumping water to the city and its surroundings, during which the company had warned against drinking the water and restricted its use to household purposes.
For his part, the company's engineer, Farhan Al-Awais, clarified that subjecting the water to tests in the past was part of the commitment to citizens' health and safety, ensuring water quality before officially declaring it suitable for drinking. Al-Awais confirmed the continued monitoring of drinking water status and quality, and the commitment to taking all necessary measures to verify its safety and compliance with approved standards, contributing to protecting public health and ensuring citizens' safety.
Al-Awais noted that the company's technical workshops completed approximately 400 maintenance operations on secondary water pumping networks in the past period, including repairing fractures and blockages in various areas and neighborhoods, with the aim of reducing water waste and ensuring its proper delivery to subscribers. Maintenance works carried out at the Alalouk station since its return to service contributed to increasing its production capacity from 30,000 cubic meters daily to 50,000 cubic meters daily, enhancing its ability to meet the needs of the population in Hasaka city and its surroundings.
