The head of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Federation, Alaa Al-Ali, held talks with a Turkish economic delegation from Afyonkarahisar province, led by former Turkish Ambassador Omar Faruk Dogan and Muhammad Kumatashli, chairman of the Afyonkarahisar Commercial Exchange, to explore prospects for joint economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
The Federation clarified via its Telegram channel on Wednesday that the discussions focused on the state of economic and trade relations between the two sides, ways to enhance joint cooperation with Afyonkarahisar province, and the most prominent investment and trade opportunities available, as well as mechanisms for exchanging expertise, with a focus on vital sectors, foremost among them industry, agriculture, and food products.
For his part, both sides addressed the main challenges facing investors and businessmen, while discussing mechanisms to overcome obstacles and simplify procedures to enhance communication between institutions and companies, emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination and intensifying mutual visits and bilateral meetings to pave the way for sustainable economic partnerships and revitalize trade and investment activities between the two countries.
The meeting, held at the Federation building in Damascus, was attended by Anas Al-Bu, head of the Joint Foreign Relations Committee in the Federation, along with a group of businessmen and representatives of Turkish companies. The Afyonkarahisar Commercial Exchange is an official commercial institution aimed at regulating and documenting the trade of goods and agricultural and animal products, concerned with monitoring markets, determining fair prices, and supporting sustainable economic development in Afyon province and its investors.
These discussions come within the framework of enhancing economic and investment cooperation and partnerships between Syria and Turkey, where the work of the Syrian-Turkish Businessmen’s Forum, held in Damascus on August 26, focused on expanding cooperation areas between the business sectors of the two countries, which contributes to launching joint projects, increasing the volume of trade exchange, and benefiting from Syria’s geographical location.
