The Higher Institute of Languages at Damascus University has announced the date for the foreign language exam required for admission to the Master’s degree, which will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The Institute clarified in a statement received by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Saturday that this step is part of the standard procedures adopted for postgraduate admission.
For its part, the Institute indicated that the registration period for the exam begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, and ends on Monday, November 2, 2026. Registration will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with work on Monday limited to the period from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Institute’s premises in Damascus.
It added that the required documents for registration include a written application from the single window at the Institute (Office B18) affixed with a fiscal stamp and a scientific research paper, along with a registration fee receipt of 400 new Syrian pounds paid by the student at any branch of the Real Estate Bank. It is also required to submit a copy of the personal ID or a civil status extract with a photo, two recent personal photos, and a certified copy of the graduation certificate or a graduation notice with at least a good grade.
The foreign language exam for admission to the Master’s degree is a fundamental requirement for acceptance into Master’s and PhD programs at Syrian universities, and is conducted through the Higher Institute of Languages at public universities such as Damascus and Homs universities, four times a year. The Institute previously held a new foreign language exam for Master’s admission for dispatched students only on April 5.
