Homs University hosted the "Academic Destination 2" forum, which provided a space for students wishing to pursue their university studies to learn about specializations, their fields, and the nature of study within them before making a decision. The forum included informational pavilions, practical experiences, and meetings with academics and volunteers, aiming to help students transition from general information to a deeper understanding of the nature of each specialization and the job fields associated with it.
Psychological counseling specialist Ward Al-Ahmad stated that choosing a specialization is an important decision in determining a student's future, noting that some students enter specializations they do not desire due to the influence of grades or parents. Al-Ahmad pointed out that the forum helps students discover the nature of the specialization and link it to their inclinations and abilities, away from inaccurate information.
For her part, nutrition specialist Lujain Al-Masri focused on the importance of giving students space away from being influenced by societal opinions or preconceived notions. Volunteer Thuriya Colco from the Medical Complex explained that participation aimed to introduce students to the complex's specializations, such as human medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, and to provide tours to learn about laboratories and the practical aspect of study.
The successful secondary certificate student Dalal Al-Qudsi stated that she underwent practical experiences and learned about information engineering and medicine, which helped her decide to study medicine. Meanwhile, student Layla Al-Ashraf chose food engineering because it was closer to her inclinations, and student Muhammad Nour Barghout explained that his meeting with academics helped him form a comprehensive picture of the economics specialization.
The diversity of participants' experiences confirms that choosing a specialization is not only related to the total score, but requires knowledge of the nature of study, its requirements, and its professional fields, along with the student's understanding of their inclinations and abilities.
