The percentage of school textbooks supplied and distributed in Homs Governorate has reached approximately 80 percent, with the Directorate of Education and Learning continuing to receive and distribute the remaining batches according to student numbers and the ministerial directives governing the process.
Dr. Malak Al-Sebaei, Director of Education and Learning in Homs, stated in an interview with SANA correspondent today, Thursday, that the Directorate is continuing to distribute textbooks to schools according to the percentages allocated by the Ministry of Education and communicated to it. She clarified that the process of receiving textbooks is still ongoing, as they are supplied from the General Printing Establishment of the Ministry to the central warehouses in the governorate, then distributed to sub-warehouses and from there to schools according to specific and fair ratios.
Al-Sebaei noted that the percentage of fulfilling the requirements provided by the Ministry has reached about 80 percent, with the continued reception of remaining quantities to cover the governorate's needs. She pointed out that the distribution process is carried out according to an organized and studied plan to avoid congestion in warehouses, based on the number of registered students signed off by the school administration and the Directorate of Education and Learning.
She explained that students in grades one to three of basic education are receiving new textbooks, except for the subjects of Art and Music education, while circulated books suitable for use are added to some fourth-grade curricula. She emphasized the importance of directing students to preserve the textbooks due to their educational and scientific value.
Determining Schools' Needs for School Textbooks
For her part, Mariam Haysha, Director of the Branch of the General Printing Establishment in Homs Governorate, stated in a similar interview that textbook distribution began with the start of the academic year according to the ratios specified by the General Printing Establishment. She explained that the branch determined the governorate's needs for textbooks for all grades and sent them to the Ministry's establishment before the start of the academic year to secure the required quantities.
She noted that incoming shipments are received in five central warehouses, then distributed directly to 20 sub-warehouses in the city and countryside, according to a specific timeline for distributing textbooks to schools and according to the percentages allocated to each.
She pointed out that individual sales of school textbooks take place in one of the sub-warehouses in the Al-Dablan district in Homs city, while the rest of the warehouses allow individual sales after 1:30 PM, ensuring priority for schools in receiving their allocations. She confirmed that workers continue to work at a high pace to accelerate the delivery of textbooks to students.
Distributed Textbooks to Students Are New
For her part, Azza Al-Amin, Director of Umm Al-Banin Basic Education School, explained that the school received textbooks from the Al-Dablan district warehouse on September 15 and began distributing them to students according to the specified ratios. She clarified that most textbooks designated for grades one to four were new.
She noted that the school received a new batch on September 23, during which some old books were replaced with new ones, while awaiting subsequent batches to complete the requirements. She explained that all students registered in the previous academic year received their books, whether new or circulated and suitable for use.
The process of supplying and distributing school textbooks in Homs Governorate continues gradually, parallel to the start of the academic year, with phased distribution adopted according to available quantities and student numbers, contributing to securing educational supplies for schools and students and enhancing the stability of the educational process.
