Houthi militia kills a woman and injures three in Taiz
A landmine planted by the militia in Taiz kills a woman and injures three others amid warnings of worsening humanitarian crisis.

A woman was killed and three other women were injured on Wednesday due to the explosion of a landmine planted by the Houthi militia in Ass Valley, in the center of Al-Shamaytain directorate, south of the Yemeni province of Taiz.

Yemeni News Agency "Saba" quoted local sources as saying: "A woman was killed and her daughter and two sisters were injured as a result of the explosion that occurred while the family members were in one of the agricultural fields in Bani Amer village, south of Taiz."

For her part, local authorities in Taiz province warned of "the worsening of the humanitarian situation due to the continued siege imposed on the city and violations against civilians," calling on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to "take urgent action to lift the siege, protect the population, and hold those responsible for violations accountable."

Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan, during a press conference, emphasized that "the city is facing a worsening humanitarian disaster due to the deprivation of thousands of families of basic life necessities, and the continued targeting of civilians and residential neighborhoods."

Shamsan clarified that "the Houthi militia is depriving the population of food, medicine, fuel, and water, and preventing the transfer of waste to its designated dump, which has exacerbated environmental and health risks, coinciding with the continued random shelling of residential neighborhoods and the fall of civilian victims, including women and children."

Five Yemenis were killed and others injured the day before yesterday as a result of attacks and shelling carried out by the Houthi militia on the city of Taiz and its countryside in the southwest of Yemen.

The Center for Information and Rehabilitation for Human Rights in Yemen had warned yesterday of the worsening humanitarian situation in the city of Taiz, due to the Houthi militia's siege on the city.
