Iran has rejected statements by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi that the IAEA will conduct inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities.
An Iranian diplomat said that this will happen "after a final agreement is reached" with the United States, stressing that Tehran does not intend to allow the United Nations agency to inspect its main nuclear sites bombed by Israel and the United States.
The IAEA director had announced that reaching any agreement to end the war in Iran could not be possible without strict verification and monitoring of the terms of the agreement, stressing the importance of the agency's role in ensuring compliance with international standards in this sensitive file.
IRGC enforces safe transit routes in Hormuz
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Force has issued a stern warning in direct response to the temporary sea lane recently announced by the Sultanate of Oman in coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), stressing that any crossing outside the routes adopted by Tehran is "prohibited and dangerous".
The warning came after what Tehran described as a measure that was taken without being informed or coordinated with it, considering in a statement on Thursday (June 25th) that "safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz is only through the corridors determined exclusively by Iran," in a clear reference to its rejection of the new Omani-international track.
The IRGC stressed the mandatory pre-communication with its naval forces via the International Channel 16, warning that any vessel that ignores instructions or sails outside the approved lanes "will face direct and decisive measures". He described movement outside those routes as "extremely dangerous."
This escalation comes despite recent indirect understandings between Washington and Tehran, which allowed temporary facilities for the passage of ships in order to reduce the risk of naval mines. But Oman's move has reignited the dispute over who has operational directive authority within the strait, at a time when the world's most sensitive waterway is witnessing rising tensions between regional and international powers.
Iran attacks 'Washington contradictions'
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stressed that the "contradictory" statements of US officials about the memorandum of understanding increase the state of Iranians' accumulated mistrust towards the United States.
Baqaei called on the US administration to realize that the principle of "commitment for commitment" requires the implementation of mutual commitments, and to avoid providing interpretations that completely contradict the explicit text of the memorandum of understanding.
Baghaei said in a post on the "X" platform that the US administration "has never shown sincerity" in its dealings with the Iranian people, adding that Iran, despite having "logical reasons" for this suspicion, has engaged in the diplomatic track "in good faith" and signed a memorandum of understanding to end the war.
The Iranian spokesman pointed out that Iranians are aware that "the enemy's hostility does not end once an agreement is signed," stressing that Tehran "will take any step with caution and awareness" due to the experiences of the past five decades, especially the two wars over the past year.
