Mehdi Mohammadi, an adviser to the head of the Iranian negotiating team, revealed the details of the terms of the Iran-US memorandum of understanding expected to be signed, stressing that it does not include any discussion of the nuclear file in its first phase.
Mohammadi said that the first step, the agenda of the memorandum - which Tehran is carefully studying - includes a complete cessation of military operations against Iran and Lebanon, and the prevention of any new military action. The US side must also provide the necessary guarantees to prevent renewed tensions.
"Based on the framework discussed, part of Iran's frozen assets will be released at the beginning of the implementation of the agreement, and at the same time, the process of suspending some economic restrictions and sanctions will begin to allow for increased economic exchanges and oil sales," Mohammadi added.
"Facilitation of the movement of Iranian merchant ships and the easing of maritime restrictions is one of the main axes of the agreement, and this clause aims to restore Iran's maritime trade to normal and remove obstacles to international transport," he said.
"The first phase of the agreement, in the text under negotiation, does not include nuclear issues. According to this framework, the other side's initial commitments must first be implemented and verified, and then the talks on nuclear issues move to the next stages."
Trump announces date for signing US-Iran deal
US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday evening that the United States and Iran will sign an agreement on Sunday, June 14, immediately after which the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.
Trump added in a post on the "Truth Social" platform that Iran will not receive any money under the deal with the United States.
The US president stressed that the United States will take over the extraction of nuclear dust buried under the rubble in Iran and destroy it both in Iran and the United States, noting that the relationship with the current Iran is completely different and much better than the relations of previous administrations.
Trump said that Barack Obama's agreement with Iran, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was an easy and clear path to a nuclear weapon, which Iran would have had six years ago and would use long ago.
"My agreement with Iran is the exact opposite, a wall that prevents any nuclear weapon from being possessed.. In fact, Iran no longer wants to have a nuclear weapon and will not have it, neither by purchase, development nor any other form of acquisition."
He explained that unlike Obama's payments amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars, including $1.7 billion in cash, no money would be exchanged with Tehran.
Iranian source: Tehran 's final decision is under consideration
An informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team said that the proposed memorandum of understanding for signing with the US side is still under study of its political, legal and technical aspects.
The source stated that Iran has not yet announced its final decision on the proposed memorandum of understanding, adding, "The political, legal and technical aspects of the submitted proposals are still being studied."
The source announced in a statement to Fars News Agency that as of the time of writing, the Islamic Republic of Iran has not made its final decision on the proposed memorandum of understanding that was presented in the negotiations.
However, the Agency's follow-up with informed sources indicates that the various aspects of the proposals submitted are still being studied at the level of experts and decision-makers, and that the responsible institutions are carefully assessing the political, legal and technical aspects of the issue.
The informed source stressed that Iran has always stated that any decision on a possible agreement will be made only on the basis of securing national interests, maintaining red lines, and obtaining the necessary guarantees, and will not be affected by the media hype in this regard.
What are the reasons for adopting the electronic signature of the agreement?
Plans to e-sign the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran come to quickly consolidate the agreement and avoid any last-minute obstacles, officials familiar with the matter revealed, thus canceling plans for Vice President Vance's attendance.
The officials told CNN that plans for US Vice President J.D. Vance to sign the memorandum in person in Europe representing his country will not be implemented.
President Donald Trump and his vice president are not traveling abroad at the same time for security reasons and to ensure business continuity, and Trump is scheduled to leave for the G7 summit in France on Monday morning, and it was difficult to transport Vance to and from the signing event in Europe in time for Trump's departure.
Instead, the offer of an electronic signature to complete the agreement, some mediators fear, according to a source familiar with the matter, that the longer the non-signature lasts, the more likely it is that progress will be stalled or one or both parties will withdraw.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced yesterday that the date for the signing of the "memorandum of understanding" and not the "agreement" between Tehran and Washington is not Sunday, stressing that the focus is on ending the war, including the war in Lebanon.
Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced yesterday that a peace agreement between Iran and the United States is likely to be signed within the next 24 hours.
