Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vows revenge for his father, Trump threatens to annihilate Tehran in its entirety
"Message of Revenge" Brings the New Guide Out of the Shadows Amid the Continuing Mystery of His Absence

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has vowed to avenge the blood of his father and predecessor Ali Khamenei, in a move that follows an exchange of violent military strikes between Tehran and the United States, described as the most violent since the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding between the two sides on June 17.

Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, which led to widespread confrontations in the Middle East, where his body was laid to rest at dawn on Friday in the city of Mashhad, following the conclusion of a six-day funeral ceremony that traveled between prominent shrines in Iran and Iraq.

In an official letter signed on Friday and published by the official Iranian news agency IRNA on Saturday, Mojtaba Khamenei confirmed that he had vowed to take revenge on his father, noting that this revenge represents the will of the Iranian nation and that it is inevitably happening.

He vowed revenge for all the dead of the two wars, whom he described as criminal murderers, pointing out that they have a complete list of the names of those involved from the beginning to the last, who will carry with them to the graves the wish of a happy death on their beds, as he put it.

The mystery of Iran's Supreme Leader's absence and Trump's threats of genocide

Khamenei Jr., who has not appeared in public since the outbreak of the war and was notably absent from his father's funeral ceremony, pointed out that the issue of revenge does not depend on his personal presence or the presence of other officials in the state, noting that the matter will soon be achieved through individuals from the free world.

The statement comes at a time when his continued absence raises complex questions in political circles about his health status, with observers attributing him to heightened security concerns that he could be assassinated by US or Israeli intelligence.

For his part, US President Donald Trump, in a post on his platform "Truth Social", revealed accusations that Tehran is seeking to assassinate him, vowing that the United States will completely annihilate Iran if it tries or succeeds in doing so.

Trump indicated that there are about 1,000 missiles ready to be launched, directed and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, which will be immediately followed by thousands more if Tehran carries out its threats, stressing that he has issued the actual orders to the US military, which is ready to work for a full year, extendable, to destroy all Iranian regions.

Regional Mediation to revive the faltering diplomatic track

In a related context, the countries that play the role of mediator between Tehran and Washington are seeking to push hard to revive the faltering diplomatic option, as the two sides held two rounds of talks after the signing of the memorandum, the first directly in Switzerland, and the second indirectly in the State of Qatar, without achieving any tangible progress.

In an attempt to revive these negotiations, Tasnim News Agency reported that a high-level Qatari delegation arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran, coinciding with an invitation extended by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif via the "X" platform, in which he urged the Iranian leadership to preserve the difficult peace gains made with Washington.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi explained in a post that Iran has fully fulfilled its word so far, stressing that the only way forward is for the two parties to commit to their signed commitments. Fars news agency quoted a source close to the Iranian negotiating team as confirming that no new rounds of negotiations will be held unless the US side reviews its current positions and stipulates that the issue of strategic passage through the Strait of Hormuz be resolved in accordance with the conditions and interests that Tehran wishes to ensure the security of its navigation.
