Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia warned that any new American attack would be met with an immediate "broader and more crushing" response, noting that the war would not remain confined to the West Asia region.
Akraminia added in media statements on Tuesday that the "enemy's target bank" had been updated in response to US threats to launch attacks, noting that Iran had developed the defensive and offensive capabilities of its armed forces.
For his part, Iranian Parliament member and former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki warned that any new war against Iran "would spread to Europe," considering that allowing European countries to use their territory and military bases for US warplanes meant these countries were "partners in American attacks on Iran."
These statements come amid simultaneous military and diplomatic escalation between Iran and the United States, as Washington carried out a "limited" strike on Monday night into Tuesday targeting a surface-to-air missile platform on Qeshm Island in southern Iran, with US officials saying it came in response to an Iranian attempt to target an American aircraft.
For his part, US Vice President JD Vance told journalists that the United States and Iran "have made some progress" toward finding a way out of the war, expressing optimism about the possibility of making further progress toward an agreement.
