The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Thursday that fires broke out on two oil tankers and a naval tugboat while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. According to a statement issued by the institution, an oil tanker attempted to cross the southern route of the strait during the night hours and collided with a mine, which led to the outbreak of fires.
In the same context, the statement mentioned that a fire also broke out on a supertanker off the eastern side of the strait. Additionally, flames engulfed a naval tugboat that had approached the tanker to help extinguish the fire, resulting in damage to it.
For his part, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard reported that it managed to capture two US "Lucas" suicide drones. The institution clarified that they were safely brought down using electronic warfare systems in the area, noting that the United States developed these drones by copying the design of the Iranian "Shahed-136" aircraft.
Current disputes between the two sides revolve around the conditions for ending the war and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which constitutes a strategic corridor for global energy supplies. No official American comment has been issued so far regarding these events.
