The "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) claimed responsibility for targeting the head of the judicial palace department in the town of Babila, about 10 km south of Damascus, with an explosive device attached to his car and exploded in the Daf al-Shouk neighborhood.
The organization said in a statement on its official IDs today, Wednesday, June 17, that its members detonated an adhesive device in the mechanism of the head of the judicial palace department in the town of Babila, which led to the "amputation of one of his legs."
A security source reported that the car of the head of the judicial palace department in Babila, Salah Ahmed al-Saleh, was targeted on Tuesday morning, June 16, with an explosive device in the Daf al-Shouk neighborhood, which resulted in his injury, according to state media, and the Syrian official judicial or security authorities did not issue a comment on the incident until the moment of writing the news.
"Syrian News" learned from a person in Al-Saleh's family that his condition became stable after he passed the stage of direct danger after undergoing emergency surgery to stop the bleeding caused by the fragments of the explosion that targeted his vehicle.
He explained that the explosion led to severe injuries in the lower limbs, which necessitated the medical team to perform an amputation of one of his legs to save his life and prevent the deterioration of his health condition.
Two ISIS Terrorist Attacks in 48 Hours
The group's claim of targeting the head of the judicial palace department in Babila comes a day after it claimed responsibility for an attack on the headquarters of the Internal Security Command in the city of Raqqa, which resulted in deaths and injuries.
The group said on Tuesday, June 16, that two of its members attacked the headquarters of the Internal Security Command west of Raqqa on Monday, and the operation, according to the organization, resulted in at least 4 deaths and injuries.
The group described the operation as "a daring attack on a heavily fortified security square that houses the central security headquarters of the US-led Syrian regime."
The fighters reached the main gate of the fortified headquarters and were able to enter it and clash with its members at close range, he said.
The Ministry of Interior stated that security forces confronted two suicide attackers in Raqqa, clashed with them and managed to neutralize one of them, while the other blew himself up with an explosive vest after surrounding him, explaining that the explosion caused the death of one of the Internal Security Forces and the wounding of 3 other members.
About 20,000 ISIS mercenaries flee in Syria
The recent activity of the "Islamic State" in Syria is reminiscent of the report of the Inspector General of Operation "Inherent Determination" at the US Department of Defense in cooperation with the intelligence services, which revealed that between 15,000 and 20,000 people suspected of being linked to the "Islamic State" and their families have fled after security chaos and mass escape from camps and prisons in northeastern Syria.
The newly released US report said US assessments had identified a near-complete evacuation of the sprawling al-Hol camp, with its population falling from about 23,400 to just under 1,500, as a result of mass fleeing and organised smuggling of women and families linked to the group.
Nearly 1,500 hardline prisoners escaped from al-Shaddadi prison, amid security chaos that accompanied military withdrawals and a change in control of territory, allowing the group elements to exploit loopholes and disappear into vast desert areas, the report said.
