Israel tightens military measures in Hebron and deploys reinforcements
Israeli army imposes military closure and destroys homes in Hebron since Oct 23, displacing thousands and halting education.

The Israeli army tightened its military measures in residential neighborhoods in the city of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, on Saturday, and deployed reinforcements to several areas, as its aggression against the city continued for the ninth consecutive day.

Raids and military closure

On Friday evening, the Israeli army imposed a military closure on the Ein Deir Baha neighborhood and carried out a raid and detention campaign targeting several young men, according to eyewitnesses to Anadolu. Witnesses said Israeli military vehicles stormed the neighborhood, and soldiers announced via loudspeakers that it was a "closed military zone" where presence or movement was prohibited.

Video clips published by local media platforms showed the spread of Israeli forces in the neighborhood and warnings to residents about the danger of staying there. Clips circulated on platforms, including "Quds Network," showed Israeli soldiers detaining a group of Palestinians, forcing them to place their hands on their heads, before escorting them under heavy guard to an unknown location.

Widespread destruction and displacement

In its latest operations, according to local sources and eyewitnesses, the demolition targeted the homes of Hamouda Wael Muhammad Al-Juba and Ahmad Bassam Muhammad Ashour Al-Juba in the Ein Deir Baha area, following Israeli accusations that their owners carried out a shooting incident in the Farsh Al-Hawa area west of the city on October 23. The Hebron Municipality said on Tuesday evening that the aggression had led to the displacement of 4,969 Palestinians, representing 780 families.

The Israeli army arrested 110 Palestinians in the governorate between Friday and Wednesday, according to a statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Club. The siege and military closures also disrupted education in 66 schools, affecting 2,872 students, including 2,198 under direct siege and 674 forcibly displaced who could not reach their schools.

Settler attacks

Concurrent with the aggression, five Palestinians were injured on Friday due to settler attacks involving beating, pepper spray, and stones against a family while harvesting olives in the Tel Armida neighborhood in central Hebron, and the theft of their crop, according to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Authority. The authority reported that settlers completely burned an agricultural room and equipment in Masfah Yatta, south of Hebron, while farmers were prevented from working in the towns of Dura and Al-Shuyukh.

Displaced Palestinians are calling for an end to the military closure and the lifting of the siege on their neighborhoods to enable them to return to their homes and resume their daily lives.
