The Israeli occupation army arrested 11 Palestinians, including released prisoners and a woman, in raids across the occupied West Bank on Thursday morning, during which it confiscated money, phones, and a car, according to the Prisoners' Media Office.
The non-governmental office stated in a statement that army forces arrested seven Palestinians, including released prisoners, during a raid on the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank. In Nablus governorate, forces arrested a woman after raiding her home on Al-Basha Street in the south of the city, confiscating phones, money, and identification documents.
For his part, the army arrested a young man from his home in the southern district of Tulkarm, and another young man during a raid on the town of Silwad northeast of Ramallah, confiscating his car. Forces also arrested Youssef Ghannam, a member of the Fatah Youth Secretariat and coordinator of the Student Youth Movement at Palestine Polytechnic University, while detaining him at a military checkpoint.
The Prisoners' Media Office condemned the ongoing arrest campaigns in the West Bank, targeting released prisoners, women, students, and activists, as well as home raids and property confiscation. It stated that what is happening constitutes an extension of a policy of persecution and harassment against Palestinians.
In the same context, the office pointed out that approximately 9,350 prisoners are held in Israeli prisons, including 350 children and 90 female prisoners, who suffer torture, starvation, and medical neglect that has led to the deaths of dozens. Since the beginning of Israel's genocidal war in the Gaza Strip in 2023, attacks by the army and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have intensified.
It added that these attacks include killing and arresting Palestinians, demolishing homes, burning mosques and cars, clearing agricultural land, preventing farmers from reaching their farms, displacing Palestinians, and expanding settlements. Palestinians warn that Israel is paving the way with this terrorism to officially annex the West Bank, which means undermining the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state as stipulated in relevant UN resolutions.
