The Israeli army continues its assault on the city of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, for the sixth consecutive day, with its forces continuing to raid neighborhoods in the city and towns in the governorate. Local sources told Anadolu that additional forces accompanied by military vehicles raided several towns in the governorate and the Al-Fawwar camp south of the city in the middle of the night, raiding and searching Palestinian homes.
In the same context, the army tightened its military measures at the city's entrances, and Anadolu cameras documented the stopping of Palestinians at military checkpoints near the Jaldah roundabout in Hebron, searching and mistreating them. This assault began on Friday following an attack carried out by two Palestinians that resulted in the death of two Israeli soldiers and injured three others, before the army killed the attackers later.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated that the army arrested 85 Palestinians in the governorate from Friday until Monday, while the Heylon Municipality announced that the number of displaced people reached 4,969 Palestinians, comprising 780 families. The first two days of the operation witnessed widespread forced displacement, demolition of homes and facilities, destruction of infrastructure, and the conversion of some homes into military barracks.
For his part, this comes amid escalating attacks by the army and settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the war on Gaza in October 2023. Palestinians warn that Israel is paving the way with this terrorism to officially announce the annexation of the West Bank, which means undermining the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state as stipulated in relevant UN resolutions.
