Israeli Occupation Detains Ahmed Al-Hussein in Quneitra
Families in Quneitra villages await news of detainees held by Israeli forces for over 16 months.

Families in villages in the Quneitra countryside bordering the occupied Syrian Golan have been waiting for more than sixteen months for news of their sons, who were arrested by Israeli occupation forces, amid the absence of any official information or notifications clarifying their detention locations or the charges against them, thereby exacerbating their psychological and material suffering.

In the village of Ruwayhina, the grapes in Ahmed Al-Hussein’s (24 years old) field are ripening without a caretaker since his arrest during a night raid carried out by occupation soldiers, who broke down doors and smashed household contents before taking him to an unknown location, leaving his father Ibrahim (66 years old) and his family in a state of constant anxiety and anticipation.

In this context, father Ibrahim recounted the details of the night that ended with his son’s arrest, noting that military forces threatened to demolish the house if one of his other sons was not handed over, confirming that another son was arrested before Ahmed and then released, while Ahmed remains missing without any contact from the United Nations or any other entity.

Ibrahim pointed out that Ahmed’s absence, who played a key role in agricultural work after his mother’s death, has created heavy material and psychological burdens on the family, adding that he sends a message to his son consisting of the wish that he remains free or dies free, amid repeated scenes of home raids and Israeli military incursions.

These villages are subjected to near-daily incursions and raids by Israeli occupation forces, in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, accompanied by house searches, land leveling, and the arrest of residents, raising concerns about daily safety and stability and leaving deep social and economic impacts.

He added that some oral accounts relayed by released individuals indicated that Ahmed is detained in the "Ofer" prison, although the family has not received any official confirmation, deepening the state of uncertainty and leaving them awaiting an unknown fate amidst continued psychological pressure and direct threats.

Data indicates that the continued absence of information regarding the fate of detainees, especially amid repeated daily violations, creates an atmosphere of constant fear among residents, who live under the constant threat of losing a family member or having their homes destroyed without any guarantees or effective international mechanisms to protect their lives.
