The Italian Ambassador to Syria, Stefano Ravagnan, inspected on Saturday a number of projects implemented with support from the Italian government in Idlib province, during an official tour that included service, educational, and heritage sites, under the patronage of the Idlib governorate and the Directorate of International Cooperation.
The tour began with a meeting between the Italian ambassador and Idlib Governor Mohammad Abdul Rahman and district directors, before inspecting the Italian restoration project at the National Museum in Idlib city, followed by visits to the Judicial Complex and the Citizen Service Center in Khan Sheikhoun, the Bahar Organization Center in Ihim, Ihim Girls' School and Al-Ard Al-Muqaddas School in Al-Qunaytirah, and the inauguration of an Italian olive press in Jobas.
For his part, Narat Isaac, Programs Director at the Zaytoun Branch Organization, clarified that the organization is an implementing partner in a school restoration project supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. The project included eight schools, four in Daraa and four in Idlib, featuring minor restoration, educational activities, psychological support, vocational training, and small grants.
Isaac noted that the project duration is 18 months, with promises of continued support in later stages to expand the scope of benefits. He pointed out that the Zaytoun Branch Organization provides non-formal education and psychological support, while the partner Italian organization implements vocational training and provides small grants.
The tour comes within the framework of Italian government efforts to support early recovery projects in Syria, focusing on education, cultural heritage, livelihoods, and public services sectors in areas whose infrastructure was damaged during the years of the fallen regime, where the Italian Agency has implemented a number of school restoration and rehabilitation projects and rehabilitated service facilities in several Syrian governorates.
