Jordan and Belgium condemn settler attack on European delegation in the West Bank
Jordan and Belgium strongly condemn Israeli settlers' attack on a European diplomatic delegation in Tuba.

Jordan and Belgium today, Saturday, strongly condemned an attack by Israeli settlers on a European diplomatic delegation in the town of Tuba, east of Ramallah in the West Bank. The delegation included the Belgian Consul General, French and Polish diplomats, as well as Palestinian farmers, representatives of the Catholic Church, and journalists.

Jordan: Rejection of settler attacks

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement published via the "X" platform, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection of these attacks, considering them part of Israeli policies and illegal measures in the West Bank. It pointed out that these measures contribute to fueling extremism and violence against the Palestinian people and undermining the chances of achieving peace based on the two-state solution.

The ministry called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel, the occupying power, to stop settler attacks on Palestinians, diplomats, clergy, and journalists. It emphasized the necessity of holding those responsible for these attacks accountable and ensuring they do not escape punishment, stressing the fulfillment of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Brussels: Settler violence cannot be separated from settlement policy

For his part, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot condemned the attack, affirming that his country rejects targeting European diplomats and Palestinians. He also condemned the expansion of Israeli settlements and plans to displace Palestinians from their lands. Prevot said in a statement: "I most strongly condemn the attack by masked settlers on Palestinians, our Consul General, French and Polish diplomats, and representatives of the Catholic Church in the town of Tuba in the West Bank."

The Belgian minister pointed out that the French mayor was beaten and a Belgian vehicle was damaged, affirming that members of the Belgian team are safe. He noted that Palestinians are subjected to violence daily, stressing that settler attacks also target journalists and diplomats who report on what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Condemnation of settlement expansion

Prevot called for holding those responsible for the attack accountable and putting an end to the impunity of settlers who commit violence. He affirmed that his country will continue to pressure for the imposition of European sanctions on those responsible for acts of violence and their supporters. He stressed that these attacks cannot be separated from Israeli settlement policy, reiterating his country's condemnation of the expansion of illegal settlements and efforts aimed at the forced displacement of Palestinians.

Earlier on Saturday, Israeli settlers attacked the European diplomatic delegation and vehicles belonging to diplomatic missions in the village of Tuba, east of Ramallah city in the West Bank.
