Journalists in Daraa and Quneitra targeted to hinder media coverage
Israeli occupation forces threaten journalists with live fire in Daraa and Quneitra to obstruct field reporting.

Journalists and media workers in the governorates of Daraa and Quneitra face repeated violations by Israeli occupation forces, including pursuit, direct targeting, firing of live ammunition and shells, as well as threats to their safety, in an attempt to impose restrictions on media coverage and obstruct the transmission of field facts and reveal the truth about Israeli infiltrations and aggressions in southern Syria.

Occupation practices threaten journalists' safety and hinder their work

SANA correspondent in Quneitra, Ayman Al-Mohammed, stated that journalists are exposed to increasing risks from Israeli occupation forces during field coverage, noting that he and several colleagues were targeted by nine shells while covering the crash of an Iranian drone in the village of Al-Samdanah Al-Gharbiyah. Al-Mohammed observed that journalists were pursued while covering Israeli infiltrations in the northern and southern countryside of the governorate, warning that these practices threaten their safety and hinder their work in conveying the truth about what is happening in southern Syria.

For his part, Sand Hamad, correspondent for the Quneitra Media Directorate, confirmed to SANA that Israeli attacks on journalists in the governorate have repeated, noting that occupation forces raided his home and fired live ammunition towards him and the press team during one of the Israeli infiltrations.

Israeli violations are a systematic policy aimed at obscuring the truth

Muawiyah Al-Zoubi, head of the Journalists Union branch in Daraa, stressed that the continuous Israeli violations since liberation reflect a systematic policy aimed at obscuring the truth and distorting the image of southern Syria. He explained in a statement to SANA that journalists face pursuit and direct targeting, including pursuit by drones, in an attempt to prevent them from conveying the truth to the world.

Al-Zoubi affirmed that the Journalists Union stands with activists, journalists, and media workers, considering them the cornerstone of journalistic work in new Syria, representing the essence of media work and the voice of Syrians to the world, by documenting violations and exposing Israeli occupation crimes.

Occupation forces seek to silence journalists and hinder their work

Journalism activist in the Yarmouk Basin area, Suleiman Al-Mohammed, who works in documenting Israeli violations, pointed out in a similar statement that occupation forces target journalists, prevent them from conveying the voices of locals to the world, and interfere with communications. He added: "We are determined to continue our work and document violations despite pursuit by drones and firing of live ammunition."

For his part, Shadi Abu Zaid, correspondent for Al-Ikhbariya Channel in Quneitra, explained that journalists face direct risks while covering Israeli infiltrations, setting up temporary checkpoints, and some youth abduction operations, revealing that field coverage witnessed gunfire, shells, and direct threats against journalists.

Israeli infiltrations continue in the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa amidst the establishment of temporary checkpoints, home raids, and civilian arrests, alongside the targeting or harassment of journalists and media workers during their field duties, practices that limit their ability to convey the course of events and reveal the details of developments witnessed by the region.
