Belgian coach Vincent Kompany, manager of the German first football team Bayern Munich, confirmed that his team is gradually approaching its best levels, despite drawing in the last two matches. Kompany said at a press conference on Friday, before facing RB Leipzig on Saturday in the German league: "We want to attack, we feel that these two results do not reflect the full picture. I feel we are about to show our best. We took 50 shots on goal in the last two matches. If we make some improvements, we will not be far from our best levels."
In the same context, the Belgian coach pointed out that these moments, which some believe may be difficult for the team, are actually the best moments it can go through in its career. He added: "If we win these matches, they will create special moments. We are in our best state and excited. We look forward to these matches to test ourselves against the best." Kompany continued that the players are doing their utmost in every training session and realize that the best way to express themselves now is by performing on the pitch.
For his part, the German champion, who will host Leipzig, drew in his last two matches across all competitions. He drew 2-2 with Augsburg in a match that saw him concede the fastest goal in German league history, followed by a 3-3 draw against Norwegian Viking in the Champions League last Tuesday. Bayern currently sits third in the German league, two points behind the joint leaders Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern awaits busy weeks. After facing Leipzig, they will host English Arsenal in the Champions League, before playing against league leaders Freiburg, and then hosting Dortmund in the Bundesliga climax on October 31, following a match against Magdeburg in the second round of the German Cup.
