Max Eberl, the sporting director of German club Bayern Munich, confirmed that Belgian coach Vincent Kompany is in stable condition following the health scare he suffered on Friday, noting that he will be sidelined for several weeks. This came after Kompany was transferred to a clinic in Munich for comprehensive examinations, after he collapsed while observing the training of the reserve team.
In the same context, Eberl clarified that the player will remain in the hospital for a few more days until the examinations are completed, emphasizing that the absence will last for weeks, not days. He pointed out that football is not the most important thing in life compared to health, noting that Kompany had previously been kept away from the team by a virus before returning to the bench for the Arsenal match.
For his part, Bayern will visit Freiburg on Sunday in the summit match of the current stage of the German league, where the Bavarian team leads the standings with 14 points. Kompany's absence for several weeks means the team will be without its coach in upcoming league matches, including the clash with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Eberl added that the club will determine the exact timeframe for recovery after learning the details of the health condition, confirming that matters will be discussed calmly after the medical picture is complete. This announcement comes to reassure the club's fans about their coach's health, who had just returned from his viral infection.
