The project to update and digitize company registration in Syria was officially launched, in partnership with the US Department of State, the Ministry of Industry, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, and in cooperation with Creative Associates International. This came during a ceremony held yesterday Sunday in Damascus, attended by officials and representatives of industrial and commercial sectors, in a step aimed at enhancing the investment climate and business competitiveness by simplifying establishment and company registration procedures.
For his part, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh al-Kar, Deputy President of the Chamber of Commerce Federation and President of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that the project represents a qualitative leap in digitizing the commercial register and governing procedures, which contributes to activating commercial and economic activity. He pointed out that adopting digital systems will accelerate procedures and reduce burdens on employees and applicants, while limiting direct contact that may open the door to corrupt practices. He expressed hope that the project would be completed and extended to various governorates, linking trade centers to a unified technical system.
Muhammad Hamish, Director of the US company's branch in Syria, clarified that the project, which has a duration of six months, will build on the platform developed by the Ministry for registering local companies, while working to simplify procedures and develop services for registering foreign companies and their branches. He noted that the project falls under the Governance and Economic Recovery Program funded by the US Department of State, aiming to provide the necessary technical infrastructure, particularly an advanced data center, as well as training the Ministry's staff to manage and operate it.
On her side, the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment signed a memorandum of understanding with the US company to digitize real estate records in Syria at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus. Muhammad al-Nasser, Director of Technology and Digital Transformation at the Ministry of Industry, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, confirmed that the project is an important step toward updating government services and enhancing performance efficiency, which contributes to reducing time and effort, improving record storage and retrieval, and providing more reliable and transparent services for investors and company owners.
