Launch of the Second Phase of the International Athletics Coaches Course in Damascus
The second phase of the international athletics coaches course begins in Damascus with 39 participants under international lecturers.

The second phase of the first-level international athletics coaches course in Syria launched today, Saturday, at the Yasmien Sports City in Damascus. The course is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, organized by the Syrian Athletics Federation in cooperation with the Regional Development Center in Cairo, with coaches from various governorates participating under the supervision of international lecturers.

Mohammed Al-Dhaman, President of the Syrian Athletics Federation, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the course includes 39 male and female students from various governorates, noting that it is held as part of the development program and the agreement signed between the Syrian Athletics Federation and World Athletics. Al-Dhaman added that the Federation intends to hold similar first-level courses over the next five years at a rate of one course per year, aiming to increase the number of training cadres and qualify as many coaches as possible.

For his part, Wael Ramadan from Egypt, a lecturer in the course, explained that the course represents the first level within the World Athletics system for preparing technical cadres. It includes theoretical axes in sports sciences, covering sports physiology, anatomy, training science, and planning, as well as skills and teaching methods in athletics competitions, in addition to the practical aspect. Ramadan pointed out that the program lasts approximately 12 days and includes a theoretical evaluation via the World Athletics electronic platform, and a practical evaluation to measure the extent to which students benefited from the provided axes.

Nasser Jarallah from Kuwait, another lecturer, stated that the practical aspect focuses on methods for teaching and laying the foundation for young players, developing their skills, and talent scouting, in addition to appropriate educational and training steps for juveniles. He noted that students will undergo a practical evaluation of their training methods and stages, as well as two practical and theoretical tests on the last two days of the course, paving the way for qualifying successful participants for the second level. The course began on October 10 with online lectures lasting seven days, before moving to practical lessons and tests under the supervision of international lecturers.
