The second scientific conference on emergency medicine begins in Damascus with participation from the Ministry of Health and the Doctors' Syndicate.

The second scientific conference on emergency medicine launched today, Thursday, at the Bab al-Sabaa Hotel in Damascus. The event is organized by the "Syrian Emergency Medicine" initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Syrian Doctors' Syndicate. The conference lasts for three days with the aim of establishing a scientific platform to develop the specialty and discuss the latest developments in emergency fields, contributing to raising the readiness of medical staff and improving hospitals' response to emergency cases.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan Al-Halabi emphasized that developing emergency medicine requires enhancing clinical training and high-fidelity simulation, as well as evaluating doctors' ability to make decisions in critical moments. Al-Halabi pointed out that building an integrated national system for emergency medicine necessitates strengthening integration between university hospitals, health institutions, ambulance services, and disaster management.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Health Hussein Al-Khatib clarified that health cadres represent a fundamental pillar for protecting society and saving lives, stressing that investing in the training and qualification of these cadres is a direct investment in citizens' lives. In turn, Munir Mustafa, Deputy Minister of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management for Emergency Affairs, highlighted the necessity of enhancing coordination between health institutions, rescue and ambulance teams, and operations rooms to protect lives and reduce losses.

Mustafa added that the Ministry of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management is working on enhancing readiness, prevention, coordination, and response, as well as developing field training and information exchange mechanisms to face mass incidents and disasters. He affirmed that the outcomes of the second emergency medicine conference must be translated into practical steps and sustainable partnerships to enhance integration between health and scientific institutions and improve emergency response efficiency.
